Dangerous Corner

Theatre Production | 2016

“The point is, I think—there’s truth and truth. … the real truth—that is, every single little thing, with nothing missing at all, wouldn’t be dangerous. … But what most people mean by truth, is only half the real truth. It doesn’t tell you all that went on inside everybody.” – Olwen Peel, Dangerous Corner

A 1932 play by British writer J.B. Priestley, Dangerous Corner is about the events that unfold in a single evening.

Robert and Freda Caplan are entertaining guests at their country house. A chance remark by Olwen Peel ignites a series of devastating revelations, revealing a hitherto undiscovered tangle of clandestine relationships and dark secrets, the disclosures of which have tragic consequences.

“Olwen (the character I play) is a single, successful lady holding a senior position at the publishing firm headed by Robert Caplan. Her offhand remark about recognizing a cigarette box—a cigarette box that she shouldn’t have any memory of, unexpectedly reveals a series of interconnected secrets that every last character has been hiding. What might have happened if the characters had just let that cigarette box moment pass? Our lives are shaped by the moments we choose to pursue and the moments we choose to let pass…”
