RaaS – Shades of Love
Dance-Theatre Production | 2015-16
“RaaS is love… RaaS is also the essence of love. RaaS is story and the source of stories. RaaS is dance. But for us, RaaS is passion in movement.” – Shruthi Rameshan, Artistic Director, Avega Dance Creations.
RaaS – Shades of Love is a dance-theatre exploration of six contemporary love stories by Dubai based Avega Dance Creations. The production deals with a range of emotions that current relationships are subject to. RaaS chronicles moments of passion, intensity, intimacy and heartbreak and takes you on a journey through the shades of love.
RaaS – Shades of Love premiered at DUCTAC (Dubai) in October 2015. The production continued to evolve in its narrative with shows at DUCTAC and The Junction through 2016.
“My piece entitled “Disconnected” explores through dance, music and narrative the strained relationship of a couple who have grown apart. In the first iteration, we approached it with a great deal of raw passion and left the relationship unresolved in the end. In subsequent iterations, as the production evolved, the Artistic Directors introduced a child in the story. That really lifted the emotional quotient of the piece. We also showed the couple working through their differences and choosing to stay together as a family. The audience felt more connected with that version. Who doesn’t like happy endings?”
